Luthra keeps a low profile
Dumeetha Luthra, who the BBC counted on to give an inaccurate and biased report of the developments in Sri Lanka, seems to have gone missing. She is either still contributing from Sri Lanka without attaching her name to the reports or she has been finally taken off the assignment probably due to the inaccuracies in her stories which was in my opinion was designed to fuel the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka. She famously once said "the army is closing in on the Tamils" when the army was attacking LTTE positions to liberate the water resources denied to the local villagers.
Luthra, who is rumoured to be romantically involved with a Tamil living in Colombo came under fire from Sri Lankans for repeatedly reporting unfavourably about the government campaign. It is alleged that she is quick to highlight the the short falls of the government but almost never talked about the 3000+ ceasefire violations carried out by the Tigers nor the targeting of civilians, political opponents, human rights activists, religious figures or infrastructure as a matter of policy by the ruthless Tamil Tigers.

in fairness to luthra, i once read an article on sangam.org critising her for being pro-government/singhalese, so at least she is pissing all sides off evenly.
No. They probably got pissed off because she was expected to be on their side anyway, but she had to make a couple of fair and reasonable reports with all the shitloads of pro-Tamil pro-LTTE crap she's written.
I actually don't think she is biased but just stupid. Why else would she say the army is attacking Tamils? Does she report Karuna attacking the LTTE as Tamils atacking Tamils??
she can go to hell, typical journalists, . i've written to the SBS here in australia many times cos everytime they do a segment on the sl conflict they say 'tamils' instead of the ltte.

When we allow somone that obvious to keep on harping a terrorist cause, the media itself represented by that person loses credibility. The BBC has been hostile to the SL govt for a long time, and these creatures are employed by them to do their bidding. By allowing them to be the face and the voice of the BBC, the world can be made to understand that the reporting media is less than dependable.
That's why the Americans hate the BBC. They always support the bad guys.

I found resent news about SL in BBC sound more up to original BBC standards.
