LTTE's failing fortunes

Not only has the LTTE suffered major defeats in the recent few weeks, but also has made a u-turn on its ambitious military plans and return to suicide bombings that specifically target civilians. This is a clear indication of LTTE's inability to sustain a military front against the motivated Sri Lankan military which has effectively used its air and ground campaign to capture areas that used to be under the LTTE control. The deep penetration commandos have been particularly effective in operations that has targeted top LTTE fighters and vital infrastructure.

To add to the woes, the people in the LTTE controlled areas and LTTE support base in the surrounding areas have reportedly turned against the LTTE and have requested support help from the Sri Lankan military. The LTTE, in desperation, has used civilians as human shields and prevent people from leaving areas of conflict which has contributed to the people's revulsion towards the LTTE.

Why is it that the tamil people in LTTE infested areas always tend to turn against the terrorists when defeat faces them ? The level of suffering of this segment of Sri Lanka's population must be intense, so that they await the slightest opportunity to vent their anger against their opporessors.
Anyway, they should take heart. Uncle Sam is coming and like Santa, he has goodies for all the nice boys and girls.

I don't think anyone actually supports the LTTE in Sri Lanka. LTTE is kept alive by intemidation and the goons abroad who have nothing to lose.

Very true. There is something very different to this campaign as opposed to the previous ones. Government doesn't seem to be intersted any sweet chats nor is it planning to cease fire. And more significantly, the Tamil on the ground this time is definitely supporting the government. Everyone has seen the barberic rule of the LTTE.

The only way to communicate with a barbarian is in a language it understands.

Tamil terrorists have proven they are devoid of any sentiment other than fear, have no respect for human life or liberty. So the best way to talk to them is thru the barrel of a gun.

At the rate the LTTE kills other tamils, soon they'll become an endangered species. Unless the SLG succeeds in liberating the innocent tamil civillians from the terrorists, soon they'll have to be bred in captivity to prevent extinction.
