Elite Forces capture LTTE's main base in Amparai

The Special Task Force of the Sri Lankan military today captured the main LTTE base in Amparai district known as the Stanley Base after a brief engagement. The LTTE rebels is said to have vacated base leaving behind a cache of weapons and ammunitions. TamilNet, the pro-LTTE news website was completely hush about the latest development, instead focusing on a story about the TRO requesting guarantee from the government to safe guard the humanitarian workers. TRO is currently being investigated by various governments for using funds raised under the pretext of Tsunami relief aid to buy weapons for the LTTE.
