TamilNet racist spin aimed to instigate violence

While the rest of the civilized world is seeking solutions to violence and racial disharmony the sole news outlet for the LTTE is inflaming the racial tension. After the recent tragic deaths of two pedestrians in the East, TamilNet was quick to point out that the victims were Muslims and that the driver and the owner of the Lorry were Sinhalese. According to reports from the East, the residents of Amparai where the incident occurred reacted violently and attacked the driver and his colleague but to the deep disappointment of the TamilNet, there was no racially motivated backlash and the area remains relatively calm. Reports from the East also states that the Muslim residents of the area do not view this as an incident with any sort of ethnic relevance and that they were supportive of the government’s on-going operation to wipe out the Tamil Tigers in the region.
