Norwegian Prime Minister does not agree with the statement made by former head of SLMM and Presidents Visit to New York

Norwegian prime minister has confirmed that they do not agree with the statement made by the former head of SLMM Maj. Gen. Wolf Hendrickson at a meeting in New York with the President of Sri Lanka, H.E Mahinda Rajapaksha. During the meeting he has confirmed their support towards the peace process.

In the meantime, the President has also met up with the leaders of Switzerland and has requested them to ban the LTTE as they are responsible money laundering and forcing the Tamil community to fund the Terrorist organization. Mr President was also seen talking to President of the United States George Bush and UN sec. Gen. Kofi Annan.

One of the main points the President made during his visit is that the International community should pressure the LTTE to come to the negotiating table and the only way to stop terrorism in Sri Lanka was from Negotiating. He also went on the say that the government has taken necessary steps to send adequate food items to the North and East as well as the LTTE controlled area, although it comes under the control of LTTE since the CFA was singed. Nevertheless, these are all Sri Lankans and the government is responsible for their wellbeing regardless of any claims by the Terrorist.

We all knew that the Maj. Gen was a LTTE supporter. I wonder how much he got paid to make that statement?

SLMM staff should be questioned in regards to these statements made by them. It is a crime to mislead the public with false information. Also to make public statements which could cause suffering to the SRi Lankan people.
