Aussies to list LTTE as terrorists

LTTE can cross out another of their fan bases. According to reports the government has considered and taken steps to enlist the LTTE as a terrorists group. While the group is proscribed in USA, UK, Canada, India to name a few, Australia held back due to the huge support for the group from the local pro-LTTE Tamil groups. But the group’s record of violence, history of child soldiers and oppression of independent Tamil views seems to have sealed the fate of the LTTE, Australia.

The LTTE was in fact banned in Australia until Ranil started the peace talks. Howard government has no love for foreign freedom fighters or terrorists and the Tamil lobby hardly has any influence on it.

After all, there are more Sinhalese than Tamils in Australia.
