Sri Lanka Air Force Downs LTTE Plane

The Sri Lanka authorities said the air force had shot down a rebel plane over Mullattivu. The single engine, modified planes thought to be smuggled into the island in parts and assembled in the rebel controlled areas have carried out number of attacks in the past but has escaped the anti-air defence system of the Sri Lankan military. According sources the first of such planes were brought down by the Air Force early Tuesday morning while the planes were attempting to attack an air force base in Vavunia.
