BBC Apologizes for Error but Apology Not Displayed

BBC apologized for and retracted an article that appeared 2 days ago in which BBC said minister G.L. Peries has admitted to rights violations by the government. In the apology BBC's head of Sinhala Service said BBC "unreservedly apologizes to the Honorable minister G.L. Peries" for the the article and also said the error was "made unintentionally due to writer’s misinterpretation of the statement made by the minister". However, the apology that appeared yesterday - a day after the admittedly erroneous article was published on BBC - was removed from BBC Sinhala web page today. The apology can be viewed by clicking here.
