Pro-rebel website Says Militay Base Attacked
Denies LTTE Plane Was Downed.
Pro-LTTE websites has reported that the joint head quarters of Sri Lankan forces in Vavunia has been under attack for 2 hours. The reports claims that there were 11 explosions and Tiger aircrafts were involved in the attack. While the Reuters and other news organizations has reported that an LTTE plane was downed by the Air Force, the pro-LTTE TamilNet said there were "no indication of any aircraft coming down".
Ministry of Defence said the attack on security headquarters in Vavunia was "completely foiled" and so far, 10 bodies of LTTE cadres have been recovered. The ministry of defence also reported 10 soldiers were killed and 15 received injuries.
