Sri Lanka goes down fighting

Pakistan reached their target in style when Abdul Razzaq hit a lofting shot over the boundary off Dilhara Fernando. Pakistan did extremely well to keep the required run rate only slightly above 6 until Vaas’s last over which gave away 13 runs. Malinga’s next over gave away 11 and Fernando was called in to bowl the penultimate over.

Pakistan plagued by problems was minus their captain Inzy, Shoaib and Asif: the latter two having failed doping tests. But they showed good teamwork and unity under the circumstances to overcome the in-form Sri Lankans. Mahela ran out of bowlers in the last few overs having used up Murali and Jayasuriya in the early stages and was left with the pacers who failed to exert any pressure on the Pakistanis.

Sri Lanka 253 (49.2 ov)
Pakistan 255/6 (48.1 ov)

Mahela is a little rusty in Maths. His calculations may have cost us the game. No seriously, I think he went to bowl out the Pakis but ran out of luck.

Mahela made mistakes as did the team. He admitted this in the post match interview. It was a match where all the luck favoured Pakistan and SL still ran it very close.

He imagined he would have had the game tied up but it didn't work. That's cricket.

I can't imagine why there is so much vitriole when we lose one very close contest.
