Mahela short-listed for ICC cricketer of the year

The captain of the Sri Lankan team, Mahela Jayawardene has been nominated for four categories in the annual ICC awards including for the ICC cricketer of the year award. Muttiah Muralitharan is also in contention for the top award at the ICC annual award ceremony to be held in Mumbai in October.

The nominations are:

Cricketer of the Year
Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Michael Hussey, Andrew Flintoff, Mohammed Yousuf, Rahul Dravid, Mahela Jayawardene, Younis Khan, Monty Panesar, Brett Lee, Makhaya Ntini, Adam Gilchrist.

Test Player of the Year
Hussey, Ponting, Yousuf, Flintoff, Warne, Muralitharan, Dravid, Jayawardene, Younis, Hayden, Ntini, Kumar Sangakarra, Kevin Pietersen

One-day Player of the Year

Not too suprisingly, Darrel Hair has not been nominated for Best Umpire award.

He deserves to be ICC cricketer of the year but not the captain of the year. He shouldn't have been the captain at all.

Yeah, he should not be captain. he hardly did anything other than his politics to kick vass out and get the captaincy. also it was heard that he has people on his pay roll just to keep the bugger going.

these new politics should not be accepted in the name of cricket!!!
