SL Government wants "bunker busters"
SL government is rumored to be exploring the possibility of acquiring deep penetration bombs, popularly known as bunker busters. US forces in Afghanistan used bunker busters to destroy caves in which Taliban leaders including Osama Bin Laden were thought to be hiding. The bombs have the ability to penetrate deep into the ground destroying caves and bunkers unaffected by conventional air raids. The main target of a operation using bunker busters will most likely be the LTTE chief Prabhakaran who is thought to be hiding in a fortified underground facility near Killinochchi, the capital of quasi-state of Eelam.

About time!!
A US manufactured bunker buster (Lockheed or national forge) cost more than $154,000 per a unit. America had capacity of using that on flies in Afghanistan. I don’t think SL has that kind of luxury.
But Couple of them can defiantly make LTTE come in to democratic stream.
I don’t mind paying petrol 3 digit price – IF this kind of things happened fast.
Hahaha. yea thats what we need.
$154,000 is a lot but not compared to the SL defense budget. If this should mean a decisive victory we should go for it.
nuclear weapons would also be nice...
Well. if we have nuke then we don’t need bunker busters for sure. Even we won’t have these issues in the first place if we have nuke. Then not only India, even Norway will respect us in the first place.. Look how nice India and Pakistan respect each other after they have nukes.
Same way, having Bunker Busters can change the face of the war even before we get a chance to use them.
