Why bombs always fall on orphanages and hospitals
LTTE claimed that the latest round of air strikes hit close to a hospital killing 5 people in a family. Apart from the air strikes that destroy boats supplying arms to the LTTE in the high seas, every bomb seems to land on or near a sensitive civilian target. As a concerned citizen, it of course greatly bothered me to see innocent civilian affected. So I tried to find out why.
The Sri Lankan government has absolutely no purpose in bombing civilian institutions. If the government is to exercise it’s authority as the elected body to rule the whole country, then attacking a civilian target is an attack on it self. Militarily, it makes no sense either. An all important element of the government military strategy is to win the hearts and minds of the Tamil community while ostracizing the LTTE.
So one reason the bombs fall on orphanages and hospitals is entirely illusional. It is the result of the vehement propaganda campaign of the LTTE spearheaded by its loyal mouthpiece, the TamilNet. Analyzing the reports of the TamilNet, it was proved that 90% of their stories are inaccurate or exaggerated. And it has produced no reports in the past 12 months that are in favor of the government. Considering, the LTTE is the organization that is listed as a terrorist group by much of the western nations, that confirms the general notion that all TamilNet reports are biased and are dictated by the LTTE. Even more disturbing is the fact that none of the TamilNet reports are constructive and written to benefit the general Tamil community or aimed at finding a peaceful solution to the protracted conflict.
The second reason why bombs keep falling on orphanages and hospitals is even more alarming. According to some military officials and pilots, the LTTE is moving the genuine targets closer and closer towards civilian institutions. Here the LTTE’s strategy is two folds; one is to deter the government from attacking these targets because of the probable civilian casualties (basically using the civilians as a shield) and the second is to gain substance for their propaganda campaign should the government carry out attacks and civilians are harmed in the process.
As the war progress, depending on how desperate the LTTE get, we can expect more and more casualties. And as in most conflicts of this nature, it will be the civilians who bear the worst of the suffering. And yes ... as long as the LTTE uses people as human shields, there will be many incidences involving civilians and these incidences will be magnified and distorted before being flashed across the TamilNet with a view to promote the agenda of the LTTE.

Yes why is KIllinochchi never bombed?? I heard Prabha lives in a fortified bunker and bombs will have no effect on him but still we should be able to destroy the so called administrative offices.
i read a report in sum indian paper today bout pakistanis giving advice to sl airforce about using bunker buster bombs on that butchers bunker.
High time they hit killinochchi.
LTTE is doing a good job in sri lanka promoting false propaganda against the military. loads of these expats here are convinced that the ltte is innocent and the army is responsible for all the killings. the thing is they all read tamilnet.
Sample press communiqué form-delete where applicable
The Sri Lankan Centre/Institute/Foundation/Front/Facade for Ethnic Harmony/Peaceful Reform/Non Political Bullshit/ Getting Easy Scandanavian doh unequivocally condemns/deeply regrets/mourns/ expresses suitable horror at the assassination of /ambush of/shutting off of water of / sabotage of toilet pipes of highly respected intellectual/ widely loved local figure/ artiste/ local school children / in this cold blooded (though admittedly well planned) and despicable manner. We find this disappointing in principle but take heart in the fact that it means we can stick around a little longer too, shoving peaceful ideas down the poor uneducated war - hungry throats of the average Sri Lankans and bringing much needed foreign exchange to the country.
We call upon international opinion, like pretty Ms Condolisa et all, to agree with us and condemn said atrocity even if it means simply sending around a standard email like this one. More on this at our website www.boozecruise.wordpress.com
