Sanjay Kumar headed to federal prison

Former CEO or Computer Associated, an IT company based in Long Island, NY, was sentenced to 12 years in a minimum security facility in the US for securities fraud, obstruction of justice and for authorizing a bribe to a witness.

In addition to inflating the company earnings to boost the stock prices of his company he was accused was attempting to erase potential evidence form his laptop by installing Linux over the Windows operating system.

Born in Sri Lanka, Kumar and his family moved to the US when he was only 17. He moved up the ranks and eventually became the CEO and chairman of the multibillion company. He was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the richest men under 40 in US. He is married and has two teenage daughters.

He moved to US when he was 14 – not 17. That is why he didn’t have enough time to learn not to get caught.

He even didn’t want to destroy the laptop hard drive – install Linux on it and keep on using it – even after earn millions! He should have been a good politician if he stayed in SL.
