Effective Measures Including Search & Clear Operations Are Now On In Jaffna

Jafna: TROOPS AFTER INTENSE FIGHTING in the Jafna peninsula during past fourteen hours are now in the process of conducting search and clear operations in affected areas of MUHAMALAI, KAYTS, NAGARKOVIL and KILALY as the civilians remain indoor as a result of the police curfew in force.As of Sunday morning giving a severe beating to the enemy, a total of 32 army personnel have paid the supreme sacrifice for the defence of the country’s territorial integrity.

Their funerals with full military honour are to be held shortly in respective areas after preliminary investigations and other arrangements are over. An updated total of 80 members of the armed forces, majority being from the army, suffered injuries in the confrontations and were evacuated to hospitals with assistance of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
