Terrorist Suffer Humiliating Losses & Withdraw


INTENSE FIGHTING BETWEEN TAMIL TIGER (LTTE) terrorists that erupted in NAGARKOVI, UHAMALAI, KILALI, THANANKILAPPU, ELUTHUMADUWAL,WARANI and a few other Jaffna suberbs after terrorists launched simultaneous multi pronged mortar and artillery attacks on Army installations and forward defence line (FDL), continued until Saturday (12) morning.

Pocket of heavily Armed terrorists, fortifying their sea tiger positions around 5.30 p.m Friday (11) evening began to direct artillery and motor fire from un-cleared area forcing the troops to retaliate in self-defence. Simultaneous amphibious attacks launched by terrorist targeted a number of FDL and Army detachments in Jaffna Peninsula.

Extensive damages have been caused to the LTTE as a result of those retaliatory attacks, terrorists radio interceptions have confirmed.

Ground troops in MUHAMALI confirmed a total of fifty dead bodies of LTTE terrorists with their weapons strewn around seen by early Saturday (12) morning excluding dead bodies of nine sea Tigers killed in KILALI lagoon, earlier the day.

Troops whiled successfully resisting and repulsing the attack destroyed at leas six sea Tiger boats and damaged a number of other LTTE boats who joined the LTTE attackers. Desperate LTTE leadership after they were badly beaten had reportedly ordered their carders to tow their damaged boats to the shore in un-cleared areas.

At least 53 members of the armed forces have received injuries in the on going confrontations as of Saturday (12) morning with no deaths so far reported among the troops.

As LTTE attacks and onslaughts were escalating the Police in Jaffan in order to minimize casualties among the masses and ensure security to them, immediately clamped Police curfew in an around Jaffna town asking civilians to remain indoor until LTTE attacks end.

As dawn breaks on Saturday (12) Terrorist were still continuing to direct intermittent artillery attacks on Jaffna FDLs but troops were effectively retaliating those offensive moves.

Meanwhile terrorists early on Saturday (12) moving away from Jaffna went on directing artillery fire on the naval base in Trincimalee.
