Aid Agencies Leave Kilinochchi

Foreign aid workers has begun leaving the Kilinochchi district through Omathai entry/exit point after the government issued a statement saying they can no longer guarantee their safety. The government's request to leave the district come as the military offensive is closing in on the town of Kilinochchi where the LTTE leadership is said to be hiding. The government has already carried out aerial attacks in Kilinochchi causing extensive damage to LTTE installations. Pro-LTTE sites has said the attacks destroyed civilian homes and expressed concern for the civilian's welfare in the absence of aid agencies. The government denied targeting civilians and claims that on the contrary, the LTTE is preventing the civilian movement and using them as human shields. Earlier, the government said they have set up safety corridors and relief centers for the civilians to move in to government controlled areas.

Among the aid agencies that has announced their pull out from Kilinochchi district are UN, OXFAM, Save the Children, World Vision, IOM and ZOA. ICRC is expected to maintain some presence in the area despite safety issues.

This is indeed a good thing. As many of these agencies support the LTTE for personal agendas. Eg:

What did the Norwegian People's Aid has done to the Wanni? According to reports they brought large quantities of cement, metal roads and machinery/Trucks etc to build 1200 homes for civilians! But How many they have build? JUST TWO! This was revealed by forces after capturing Wanni. What happened to the metal rods and cement brought in to build the remaining 1198 homes? Or they just use all cement and rods to build two houses? A new record i believe?

NGO's don’t want this war to end, as their jobs are at stake. After all, if there is no war, they go back to their country and be on the dole! Hence, what best way to get paid large sums of money and live a life of luxury by undermining a legitimate government in the third world country and support a terrorist organisation.

GSA,

Do not talk without knowing the facts. People can be veyr judgmental, but in real life this is not the case.

All the NGO's are doing a great job, it's this fucking government and the Sinhala people who does not do anything for the Tamil people!!!!!!!

And you talk like you know the facts? Yes some NGOs are doing a good job and others are supporting terrorists bcase their countries provide arms to conflicts. May be government and Sinhala people as you say aren't doing anything for the Tamils in Vanni. That is cause the LTTE has abducted them. What does the LTTE do for Tamils? They kill Tamils for having different idea, or taking part in elections or for exposing LTTE attrocities. Government may not be able to to help Tamils in LTTE areas but at least government doesn't kill Tamils.
