France suspends Tamil Tiger TV
France's television authority - CSA - has instructed GlobeCast, a satellite broadcasting company, to suspend the relaying of Tamil Television Network (TTN) with immediate effect.
TTN with a viewership of around 20,000, mainly consisting of Sri Lanka Tamils in Europe, is known to have close ties with the LTTE and has carried out programms promoting the group. The LTTE, also known as the Tamil Tigers are listed as a terrorist group in the US, EU, UK and India among other countries. The suspension comes as a big blow to the LTTE which has suffered huge losses on the ground and relies heavily of the Tamil diaspora for funding of its terror campaign against the Sri Lankan government.
