Brilliant insight to Ian Chapells comments (from Borneo?)

Ian Chappell called the omission of Vaas and Murali in the match against Australia "ridiculous and disgraceful" and told the media that he thought the matter should be investigated by the ICC. Although the omissions were a little puzzling, Ian Chappell remarks are way off the mark. A team has every right to rest players for any reason - including for tactical reasons. Sri Lankan team is in the Caribbean to win the world cup. And how they attempt do that is up to the players and the management. More interestingly, Ian Chappell has again demonstrated the double-standards the Australians continuously practice that almost borders on racism. Follow the link to read a good account of what the Australians have done in the past that Ian Chappell seems to have forgotten and frankly, why his comments "ridiculous and disgraceful" are more suited to describe the Australians.

Ian Chappell should be investigated for his outrageous comments. How come like Sanga points out, he doesn't call for ICC intervention when Australia rests their key players from tours????? What an idiot!!! Moron. Racist bastard.

if sanga wasnt ridiculously adjusted lbw, sri lanka could've put up a very decent score and australia would've been under the hammer.

australians are so pissed off because they havnt had a look at murali or vass from 22 yards for over 16 months now.

anyone remember a few years ago after sri lanka trounced australia at sydney, australia batted slowly in their game vs england purposefully to make sure england (who had lost every game vs aus) got into the tri-series final and not sri lanka.

Any one can make anyt comment. That is their right.

Sri lanka is no longer the amatuers we used to be. We are heavy weights that the world has to reckon with.

Let us be the big boys we are, and stop crying each time someone calls us names. Our players need to understand that we are THE force to reckon with and there absolutely is no need to respond to each and every barking dog.
