LTTE reeling - www.strategypage.com

The Independent verification of information from the Sri Lankan war front is hard to come by. The LTTE, with the help of Tamil diaspora runs a mammoth anti-government propaganda campaign which habitually inflates the casualties on the government side and repeatedly attempts to discredit the government's human rights record. But of lately the LTTE's propaganda machine has been silent about the multi-front attacks on its artillery and of the air attacks which is known to have caused high casualties and damage to their infrastructure.

The independent website www.strategypage.com which monitors conflicts around the world has claimed that the LTTE is "reeling" in multiple fronts due to continuous artillery attacks and air force and navy operations. Visit www.strategypage.com for the full account and daily updates.

the article seem to be pretty independent and as the website says concentrates on military strategy. we can see whether this will kept up in the future.

I’m not sure LTTE’s propaganda is silent. Also it is hard to believe military operation alone can reduce LTTEs international operation because military operation is just an expenditure LTTE maintain for keep the interest of Tamil Diaspora while making majority of profit from other activities like arm, drug and human trading, fraud and all other sort of things. So if LTTE’s international operation is really down, that must be something else we don’t know going on in international level or we just mistaken Norway’s silent these days as LTTE’s silent. Wait until Norway’s summer holiday starts and see how things will starts to change.

Or it could be that the LTTE is critically wounded. This government seems to be determined to finish off the job and capture Prabhakaran.

There is only one thing that can undermine the efforts of the current military strategy. That is the squandering of the diplomacy. While offering an alternative devolution architecture is imperative, maintaining the pressure on foreign governments is also equally important. But a few in the Mahinda regime seems to be acting in a manner that only helps the LTTE. What's his name even reminded a diplomat about the British ambassador that was kicked out of the country. We all know how we paid for it for years to come.

My comment isn't about the LTTE but to make a general point - www.strategypage.com is not regarded as a serious source of military information or analysis. It's not a total fan boy site but it's pretty close.

Sites like these are -
http://www.defencetalk.com/forums/
http://militaryphotos.net/
which have a large number of defence professional contributing are more highly regarded.

Like it or not, strategypage has been accurate over the past few years that I have read it.

In particular I like its approcah to making the content readable to the ordinary civillian rather than the military affiliated technocrat.
