A big white elephant in the house - Mahinda swears in 52 ministers, 33 non-cabinet ministers and 19 deputy ministers
A colossal cabinet of 52 members of the parliament took oath today before the president to form what probably is the largest in the world. In addition a further 33 were appointed non-cabinet ministers and 19 as deputy ministers. That’s a total of 104 parliamentarians now serving as the government of Sri Lanka. The question on everyone's mind is with the increasing military budget and dwindling foreign investments, who pays for all these ministers' security and luxuries.
The positions were created to facilitate the cross-over of opposition parliamentarians from the main opposition, the UNP, and other smaller parties. The cross-over has enabled the president to extend the majority and effectively eliminate any opposition. With its top brass crossing over to the ruling party, the UNP is in shambles which leaves the errr ... "nationalist, right-wing, maxist" party, the JVP to play the role of the opposition. *sigh* That is, unless Ranil Wickramasinghe is able to shake the dying UNP back to life.

here's a big fuck you mr president. here's a big fuck you to you and those asslickers crowded around your fat seat. fuck you for 103 x thugs, bodyguards, costomised range rowers, bmw's, high class hookers, fully paid european vacations, secrataries (hookers), kickbacks to various beneficiaries, special treatment to immediate & extended family, and millions more stolen from the fruit of our beautiful country and its people. boy the way MR is going, he might as well go ahead and declare himself as king.
I think he is going in that direction. He is trying to eliminate opposition and increase the powers of the executive branch. Thats pretty much a king or a dictator.

main problem with buffalo's huge cabinet is jvp being the main opposition. but that has lost to do with ranil's stance on ltte as much as buffalos actions
Investment figures come out generally 8 months after the policy implementations. The increase you see now is as a result of the peace window we had before Mahinda. Investments are now on the decline and will hit a rock bottom in 8 months time.
