Special police unit to tighten Colombo security

A special police unit has been established to track down persons who are involved in abductions and ransom taking.

Secretary of Defence Gotabaya Rajapaksha, said that the president had instructed him to take necessary measures to prevent such activities.

The Secretary of Defence made this disclosure at a special secession held at the Temple Trees this morning. This meeting was convened to discuss the alleged abductions and ransom taking.
Another objective was to focus attention on the problems faced by the Tamiol civilians living in Colombo and suburbs.

President Mahinda Rajapaksha, has apponted a commission to monitor the inquires into abductions comprising foreign officials as he was very concerned about this issus.

what qualification does Gotabhaya have to be Secretary of Defensce apart from being Mahinda's brother? just wondering.. :)

He was a former Col. of the army during the days of Maj. Gen. Dezil Kobakaduwa, one of the great leaders that we had.

also he is doing a great job right now. we need people like that to fight the terrorist.
