Army has recovered weapons of the LTTE Terrorist
The Army has recovered weapons used by LTTE terrorist during the battle with the security forces in Sampur last month.
The following weapons of the Terrorist, the LTTE was recovered by the Sri Lankan military,
* 61 numbers of 120mm high explosive mortar bombs
* 715 rounds of T56 ammunition,
* 19 improvised "jumping" mine timing fuses,
* 150 12.7 live rounds,
* 3.5 meters of detonating cord,
* 16 82mm mortar fuses,
* 180 live rounds of MPMG ammunition
* 19 numbers of 60mm mortar cartridges.
The Sampur battle lasted a week, and the Security Forces on August 31 captured and was in full control of the Sampur area. The LTTE terrorist suffered humiliating defeat at the hands of the Sri Lankan forces. However, the town is still full of landmines and booby traps, which was done by the LTTE. The troops were immediately deployed after capturing the Sampur to clear the landmines to ensure the safety of the Civilians and the Military.
