The untold side of Jeyaraja's article

The article “Aerial Terror results in massacre of innocents” by Mr. Jeyaraja, who I happened to have a great deal of respect for, brings out interesting points. He highlights the most important thing in the incident that claimed young lives in a school in Mullaitheevu – or tiger base - depending on who you talk to. They were above all school children. Everything else is secondary. But where Mr. Jeyaraja departs of the essentials of the incident is when he fails to connect the dots he himself has drawn. He first acknowledges that LTTE uses child soldiers. Statement of such to come from a man of his intelligence and knowledge of the conflict is essentially proof beyond doubt that LTTE endangers young Tamil children in quest for their agenda. Then he says among the dead and injured were LTTE cadres. So what were LTTE cadres doing at a school function? Men of Jeyaraja’s intellect as should others with common sense agree that if not the children were child soldiers; it was the intention of the LTTE to recruit them. Mr. Jeyaraja also states that neither the parents nor the children had any say in the decision to attend the camp. In civilized world this is known as ‘kidnap’. The rest of the article is an effort to gain ‘commercial mileage’ by addressing the popular and the entertaining tidbits; the catastrophic attack, humanitarian law, suffering etc. If the author instead has continued to extrapolate the dots his article should have gone on to discuss how the LTTE has lost complete regard for civilian life especially of children and how they will no doubt continue to endanger the lives of children. True the military should bear responsible for its part in the civilian casualties but it can be safely assume the military will not deliberately target civilians nor will they take the youth away from parents. But, yes, they will continue to bomb Tiger camps, bases and even sadly, locations there are child soldiers.

Children were killed and many more lives of children are endangered. Should not that be the jist of the story? And has not Mr. Jeyaraja proved it is the LTTE the only organization in Sri Lanka that is able to and continues to deliberately endanger or target civilians? Mr. Jeyaraja said in his article “The massacre of innocent schoolgirls through aerial bombardment is nothing less than a war crime or crime against humanity. Will Justice be done?” So let me ask again the question again without limiting it to school children or aerial bombardment: The massacre of innocent people or endangering children is nothing less than a war crime or crime against humanity, Will justice be done? Furthermore, will the great Tamil people stand up brutality of the LTTE and the selfish agenda of its leader Mr. Prabhakaran or have they given up to a level that LTTE’s taking away their children is come to acceptable? I wished Mr. Jeyaraja would have completed his article and said what is in the hearts and minds of ordinary peace loving Tamil people: “Its time LTTE left the Tamil people alone”. "Enough men, women children of every race has died in the name of a dictatorial, undemocratic and selfish agenda of one man"
