Mavil Aru Sluice Gate Opened

TRINCOMALEE: THE MUCH-DEBATED MAVIL ARU sluice gates in TRINCOMALEE were opened last evening (08) by members of the armed forces.

Reports said that waters have already reached affected areas by Wednesday (08) morning. The battle for water lasted for over 19 days.

Meanwhile, Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) paying tribute to heroic troops of the Army, Navy and Air Force, declared that the humanitarian mission was accomplished.

“The sluice gates of the Mavil Aru anicut were opened today (08) at 8.00 p.m. accomplishing the noble objective of the humanitarian mission which lasted for 19 days.
