Coconut land owners seek remedial measures from the proposed stringent coconut land law
Colombo, 11, August, (Asiantribune.com): The coconut growers and coconut land owners in Sri Lanka ask government intervention to change the proposed law against coconut land fragmentation and felling of unproductive coconut trees.
Earlier Minister of Coconut Development Salindha Dissanayaka said that his Ministry has planned to introduce tough penalties on felling of coconut trees and land fragmentation to revive the coconut cultivation of Sri Lanka.
The new law, empower law enforcement officials and Ministry of Coconut Development to be armed with new regulations to prevent land fragmentation and felling of coconut palms.
