LTTE activities under constant review - Australia

"The LTTE and its activities are under constant review by Australia's security and intelligence agencies," said Philip Ruddock MP, Australia's Attorney General, who is responsible for matters of national security in Australia.

Australia has listed the LTTE as a terrorist organization under the Charter of United Nations( Terrorism and Dealing with Assets) Regulation 2002 ( UN Charter Regulations) in accordance with Australia's obligation under the UNSCR 1373.

In response to a letter forwarded to him by New South Wales Premier Morris Iemma MP , Minister Philip Ruddock further stated that Australia has listed the LTTE as a terrorist organization under the Charter of United Nations( Terrorism and Dealing with Assets) Regulation 2002 ( UN Charter Regulations) in accordance with Australia's obligation under the UNSCR 1373. The Charter of United Nations Act 1945(UN Charter Act) and the UN Charter Regulations adopted in 2002 implement Australia's obligation to freeze assets of terrorists.
