Some Thought on Amrithalingham

I first met Mr. Amrithalingham in Jamaica in 1977. He and I were there to attend the Commonwealth Parliament Association annual conference. I was part of the Indian delegation selected by the Janata Party Government which had then come to power. Knowing that I was a part of the largest group within the Janata--the merged Jana Sangh-- and already perceived as a close confidant of the Prime Minister Morarji Desai, Amrithalingham suggested we meet and discuss the Janata Government's attitude to the Sri Lanka situation.
