Explosives, Weapons Found in Negambo

Large quantities of C-4 explosives, a riffle, suicide jacket and other accessories were recovered in a vacant land lot in Negambo. Police suspect that these were to be used by the LTTE to carry out attacks on civilians in Colombo. The LTTE is known to target civilians when they suffer heavy defeats in the northern battlefronts. In the last few months, the security forces have gained vast areas of land that was under the LTTE control and are now in the outskirts of Kilinochchi which is said to be the capital of the de-facto LTTE state.
