Sri Lanka sinks India. India almost certainly out of the tournament

Sri Lankan team put on a fine pereformance to outplay India to secure a place in the super 8 round of World Cup held in the Carribean. India having earlier lost to Bangladesh now relies on Bermuda to beat Bangladesh - an unlikely event - to have a chance to qualify. Even then, the run rate will come in to play.

Upul Tharanga, Chamara Silva played a crucial role to steady Sri Lanka after the early dismissal of Jayasuriya, Jayawardene and sangakkara. Thilakaratne, Arnold and Vaas contributed in the last stages with some quick runs to take the total to 254. Needing little over 5 runs an over, Indian top order crumbled with the exception of Shewag (48) and Dravid (60). India was eventually all out for 185 with man-of-the-match Murali, taking 4 wickets for 41 runs.
