Sri Lanka condemns assassination attempt on Pakistani High Commissioner

"The Government unequivocally condemns this attack on the envoy of a friendly country."
Aug 14, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has condemned the LTTE's attempted assassination of the Pakistani High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Bashir Wali Mohamed this afternoon in Colombo.

Issuing a statement, the government said, “The High Commissioner narrowly escaped when the explosive-laden three-wheeler was prevented from reaching its target by the military escort vehicle. The military vehicle took the full brunt of the explosion and at least seven persons including four soldier died in the blast.”
