Further errors in the LTTE strategy

Aug 15, Colombo: Yet another twist to the situation in Sri Lanka was added when the Pakistan ambassador narrowly escaped an assassination attempt. The incident carrying every hallmark of a LTTE attack is nothing short of mind-boggling. Why would the LTTE attack the Pakistani envoy? My theory is it is due to the general political and military incompetence of the LTTE leadership which has made repeated strategic errors. The Tiger leadership is desperate to win the support of the Indian government and they are under the impression that by attacking a Pakistani VVIP, LTTE will win the sympathy of the Indians. India and Pakistan may be at odds but the diplomacy between the two countries is civilized enough to condemn any such barbarism demonstrated by a LTTE’s attack on a diplomatic entity. I think the crude and shoddy persona of the so called savior of the Tamil people is once again highlighted by foolish strategy of the LTTE leadership. While the rest of the world is engaged in diplomacy and reconcilliation, the Tigers are going backwards trying to sort everything with guns and bombs.
