LTTE ranks in mass desertion?

Aug 15, Colombo: Unconfirmed reports reaching Colombo states many Tiger rebels have started leaving the ranks of the LTTE amid the fighting in the North and the East. It is reported the LTTE suffered heavy casualties and the moral of the LTTE militants is at an all time low. The Army, however, has faced severe resistance in some areas in the North but is said to have repulsed the LTTE’s breach of the Forward Defense Lines. The government has invited the rebels to surrender and to cross over to the government controlled areas. The defense ministry has assured safety and protection for all Tiger rebels surrendering to the government forces.
