SLMM gets an Acting head of mission

Norwegian government has decided to appoint Major General Lars Johan Solvberga as the Acting Head of Mission for Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM).

Minister for International Development in the Norway government Mr. Eric Solheim said that the wide experience and the military background of General Solvberga will be vital assets for him to act effectively in his new position.

The appointment will be effective from September 1 with the planned departure of the present chief Ulf Henricsson as the three EU nations Sweden, Denmark and Finland are pulling out from the Swedish led monitoring team.
