Sri Lanka Bar Association under fire from lawyers

President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), Desmond Fernando, has come under fire for issuing a partisan message of condolence on the killing of D. Sivaram without expressing similar sympathies to other journalists killed by the LTTE. Some lawyers see Desmond Fernando as a pro-UNP lawyer playing politics. Asian Tribune is currently investigating the role of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka in Sri Lankan politics. A report will be published when investigations are completed.
