Fire fight with Tamil Tiger rebels injures four policeman in eastern Sri Lanka

Four police were injured Thursday when Tamil Tiger rebels ambushed a convoy carrying a rival Tamil group in Sri Lanka's volatile east, the military said.

The rebels opened fire and hurled grenades at two vehicles carrying members of the Eelam People's Democratic Party, or EPDP _ a government coalition partner, said Brig. Daya Ratnayake.
