US-Norway-Sri Lanka talks on joint mechanism

April 20 (Asian Tribune) Hectic diplomatic and political activities are taking place to come to a compromise on the controversial issue of joint mechanism for tsunami aid distribution. On one hand diplomatic efforts are being made to narrow the gap between the conditions acceptable to the government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE). At the same time similar activities are taking place to ensure a consensus within the political parties in the ruling alliance.
