Pulmudai tense after soldiers dig up Muslim graves, President Kumaratunga intervenes and orders immediate probe
The Lanka Academic - Munza Mushtaq in Colombo, March 7, 2005, 1.59 p.m.. A high level military team led by Brigadier M. Zahir has given an undertaking to the Pulmudai Muslims that justice will be ensured to the civilians within two weeks. The undertaking was given after thousands of Muslims staged a weekend hartal, bringing the entire Pulmudai town to a standstill, after civilians observed several persons clad in military uniform digging up graves at a Muslim burial ground, which is situated in very close proximity to the Pulmudai Army Camp.
