Factional Fighting Escalates in the East

March 18 (LankaWatch.com) - According to recent media reports, the number of violent incidences in the east of Sri Lanka involving the LTTE and breakaway factions have increased causing concern among the LTTE leadership. The LTTE meanwhile has blamed these incidences on paramilitary groups who they claim to be working with the Sri Lankan government security forces. However, the military has denied any affiliation to the groups suspected of carrying out attacks on the LTTE.
