India, Sri Lanka agree on defence cooperation
(sify.com) New Delhi: India and Sri Lanka would soon sign an agreement for defence cooperation, Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Lakshman Kadirgamar said on Saturday.
"At any moment now an agreement may be signed," Kadirgamar, who met Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday, told reporters.
The Minister has been pressing New Delhi for an Indo-Sri Lanka Defence Cooperation Pact which, among other things, envisages reconstruction of the Palaly airport in Jaffna, intelligence sharing and training of Sri Lankan defence personnel.
