2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony

So it is almost that time again, four years has now gone past and that can only mean one thing, it is time for the Olympic Games 2008. The 2008 Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony is due to start and already people have been moaning about the games before they have started.

The 2008 Summer Olympics will feature 302 events in 28 sports with 205 nations participating in the international event.

It has been announced that Canada's Celine Dion, Taiwan's Jay Chou, Britain's Sarah Brightman and China's Liu Huan would perform during the opening ceremony.

Over 80 head of states are expected to be in attendance for the opening ceremony, giving the 2008 Games the largest group of world leaders for the Olympics.

It will be held at the Beijing National Stadium, and begin at 8:00pm local time on 8 August 2008. The choice of date and time (2008-08-08 8:00) reflects the fact that the number 8 is considered a lucky number in China.
