Kumaratunga to discuss joint mechanism with Indian premier

Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga is expected to brief Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh on the safeguards in the proposed tsunami joint mechanism with Tamil rebels later this week. Kumaratunga sought a meeting with Dr Singh earlier this month and the proposed visit was twice postponed due to busy schedules of the two leaders.
