Seven Bhikkhus , led by Professor Attanagune Rathanapala Thero, of the National Bhikkhu Front,( NBF) began a fast unto death opposite the Fort Railway Station at 12 noon today, demanding the withdrawal of the proposed Joint Mechanism with LTTE. The NBF accuses President Chandrika Kumaratunga of trying to manipulate Ranil Wickremesinghe into power and breaking up the United Peoples Freedom Front .Picture shows a monk offering ‘Pirith Pan (Holy Water) to the Professor as he is about to commence fast unto death.
