Canada says it must address the issue of Child Soldiers in Sri Lanka
April 1 (theacademic.org) - Bandula Jayasekara in Colombo, Canadian Federal Parliament has taken up the use of child soldiers by the LTTE for the first time. On March 24th MP David Kilgour, Chairman of the sub committee on Human Rights and International Development said "Canada must address the issue of child soldiers in Sri Lanka and ensure that Canadian funds provided to improve the situation of children in vulnerable circumstances meet out objective, Recruitment prevention and child protection initiatives should be strengthened in all areas, including tsunami-affected areas, relief camps and orphanages."
