Tamil Tigers 'shoot soldier dead'

The Sri Lankan government says Tamil Tiger rebels have shot dead a soldier on the third anniversary of a ceasefire between the two sides.
Defence ministry spokesman Daya Ratnayake said the soldier was killed and another injured in the incident at Killali in northern Jaffna district.

There was no immediate comment from the Tamil Tigers.

The ceasefire has been under pressure recently from incidents such as the killing of a senior rebel leader.
