Sri Lanka army commander orders inquiry into soldier




COLOMBO, Feb. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Sri Lanka's Army Commander Shantha Kottegoda has ordered an inquiry into Wednesday's killing of a soldier in the northern Jaffna peninsula.

The soldier was killed by the Tamil Tiger rebel in the northernJaffna peninsula Wednesday evening.

The attack coincides with the third anniversary of the Norwegian-backed truce agreement.

Senior military officials in the capital Colombo said that the soldier was shot at "no man's land" Muhamalai where bunker lines of the rebels and the government troops are 400 meters apart.
