Registering of Individuals from the East/North

The police on Sunday conducted a census on Eastern Province Tamils living in the Western Province. Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said that this was part of their strategy to prevent the LTTE from taking advantage of Tamil civilians living in the South.

The method of conducting such census is discriminatory due to the fact that it specifies "Tamils" from eastern province should register instead of “Citizens/individuals from the Eastern/Northern Province” should register.

Yet again, it could be that the MEDIA itself is creating racial tension for personal agendas by making such strong statements against a specific race/religion/community.
