Why do Tamils forgive and forget?

Tamils are the most forgiving of people. Not only has the LTTE deprived the Tamils of the comforts of modern day life but also denied the children a future. Amidst the dispute about the children killed by Air Force attacks many questions remains to be answered. But one thing is pretty clear. There is no group in Sri Lanka that would deliberately target children except for the LTTE. It will be counter-productive for the government to attack civilians. The bombs that actually killed the children might have be from the Air Force jets but as information unravels it is pretty clear as to what took place in a small village where many adolescent girls lost their lives. The girls, being trained by the LTTE to be child soldiers, were unfortunate to be at a training camp that was to be the target of the Air Force. Despite the wide propaganda campaign, the general Tamil public now knows exactly what transpired at the camp. They are bitter and sad - even at the Air Force - but in their minds they know the LTTE will continue to recruit their children forcefully and will endanger the lives of many of the Tamil children. And while the government has taken genuine steps towards peace their partner in the peace process is disinterested. All this loss of life seems increasingly to be the result of a selfish and one sided LTTE agenda. Yet the Tamils will chose to put all this behind them and continue to suffer at the hands of a millitant dictatorship.
