A bus containing prisoners including a Karuna faction cadre was targeted by a claymore mine in Amparai this morning causing injuries to a Police constable, in what Police believe was an LTTE bid to kill the Karuna cadre who was being taken to the Ampara Courts.

They did not rule out the possibility of an attempt to simultaneously set free an LTTE cadre who was to be produced in courts on Friday.
