Government tries to prevent abuse of Sri Lankan maids working abroad

The government is scrambling to prevent the abuse of tens of thousands of Sri Lankan women working as maids overseas, mostly in the Middle East, following reports of torture, harassment and even death, the country's labor ministry said Monday.
